A man legally parked his car while he was away on holiday but he received four parking tickets.
That is because a disabled bay was painted around his parked car by a contractor, after he had left it on an unrestricted road outside his home, as seen on CCTV footage which was shared on social media.
In the video, the contractor is seen taking pictures of the car after the painting is complete, in order to alert the council not to fine the driver.
However, between 22 and 26 number a total of four penalty charge notices were placed on the car, after construction of the disabled bay.
The owner of the car told BBC London: "It really put a damper on my holiday because I kept checking [the camera] to see what was wrong and there was nothing I could do”.
He said that he didn't want to go out and do the things he wanted to do because he was worried about the number of tickets that were piling up.
The man, who did not wish to be named, said that once he got back from his holiday he had two tickets on his car and that a further two had been removed by someone.
The tickets were placed by a parking attendant on separate days as she was not aware of the situation.
Croydon Council "apologised for the confusion" and confirmed that "the tickets were cancelled a week before the video was uploaded to social media".
A council spokesperson said: "Unfortunately one of our parking attendants was not informed and issued parking tickets”.
