Paddy Power pay out fan who put £5 on Theresa May to become Man Utd’s director of football

Paddy Power paid out over a grand in winnings to a fan who put a fiver on Theresa May to become Manchester United's new Director of Football

Thanks Paddy

Prime minister Theresa May announced her resignation today. On June 7, she will step down and pave the way for a different useless Tory to become PM, probably Boris Johnson. Lord have mercy.

While she will still work as Maidenhead’s MP, the 62-year-old will now have a lot more spare time on her hands. Bookmakers Paddy Power have therefore listed her as a potential candidate to become Manchester United’s Director of Football at odds of 500/1 – odds ten times shorter than Leicester winning the league at the start of the 2015/16 season.

One punter decided to chuck a fiver on May getting the job at Old Trafford because, well, I don’t know. But it has paid off, as Paddy Power announced that they would pay him his winnings, apparently for just having the courage to bet on something so ridiculous.

And here’s the proof. Although the screenshot reveals they placed £2.50 on it, not the fiver as tweeted by Paddy Power.
