Great news as another vaccine has been approved.

Hot on the heels of Pfizer-BioNTech, it was announced on Wednesday morning that the Oxford-AstraZeneca developed coronavirus vaccine has been approved for use in the UK. The first doses are due to be administered as early as Monday morning. What is more, Health Secretary Matt Hancock has confirmed that the UK now has enough vaccinations to cover the entire population of the country.

“I can now say with confidence we can vaccinate everyone,” Hancock confirmed on BBC Breakfast. “We’ve got enough of this vaccine on order to vaccinate the whole population – 100 million doses. Add that to the 30 million doses of Pfizer and that’s enough for two doses for the entire population.”

The 100 million doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine ordered by the UK government is enough to vaccine 50 million people. It is easier to transport, can be refrigerated at much lower temperatures, and is significantly cheaper.
