OnlyFans will no longer ban explicit content in October after huge backlash

Social media platform OnlyFans, most known for its adult content, has now announced that its ban on explicit content that was due to come into effect on October 1st will not go ahead. https://twitter.com/OnlyFans/status/1430499277302816773

Taking to Twitter On Wednesday, the platform tweeted:

"Thank you to everyone for making your voices heard. We have secured assurances necessary to support our diverse creator community and have suspended the planned October 1 policy change. OnlyFans stands for inclusion and we will continue to provide a home for all creators."

Last Friday the company announced that come October, adult content would be banned on the platform. Both sex workers and fans of the platform rallied together to campaign against the change, given its prominence in allowing sex workers control over their business. "OnlyFans will prohibit the posting of any content containing sexually explicit conduct," the company said in a statement. "In order to ensure the long-term sustainability of our platform, and to continue to host an inclusive community of creators and fans, we must evolve our content guidelines." Since the initial statement, people spoke out on the topic, accusing the platform of abandoning the people who had made them millions. Exploitation of (primarily) women and minority-driven content for public funding under the guise of purity. This sucks!!!!!
