Nico Rosberg wears a sanitary towel to tackle his sweaty head

It's quite an ingenious anti-perspiration hack, actually...

It’s hot. Daaaamnnn hot inside a Formula One car and the last thing you need is sweat pouring into your eyes as you enter a hairpin bend at 140mph.

So Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg puts a sanitary towel on his head.

This bizarre – yet ingenious – anti-perspiration hack is described by Lewis Hamilton’s team-mate as a “sort-of headband” that he puts inside his helmet to prevent any dangerous leaks getting into his eyes.

In an interview with Sky Sports, he said:

“I have an issue with my eye when I sweat a lot so that is what the headband is for. Actually I do have sort of a headband in my helmet, it is my trick, but I can tell you.

I put a woman’s… erm… what do you call them? The thing you put in your underwear. Sanitary towel – I put that on my forehead in my helmet to take up the sweat.”
