And the new health secretary… is not Nadhim Zahawi
Nadine Dorries was forced to delete a tweet after she congratulated a fellow minister for a job he never got.
The Culture Secretary who is never far from a fumble – her last just days ago when she confused rugby league for union – congratulated “my friend” Nadhim Zahawi for becoming the new health secretary after Boris Johnson‘s cabinet began to crumble Tuesday night.
Savid Javid quit, then Rishi Sunak, and then several others over the PM’s handling of the Chris Pincher scandal.
Zahawi was made the new Chancellor of the Exchequer. Steve Barclay replaces Javid as health secretary.
Dorries quickly deleted the tweet, but not before it was screenshot by other users who gleefully ensured it continued to circulate.

Dorries wrote on Twitter: “He arrived in the UK a refugee who couldn’t speak English who knows nothing but to achieve against the odds. He will deliver for health in the same way he delivered for vaccines and education. A top cabinet minister. Congratulations my friend.”
Naturally, Dorries fumble was seized upon.
One person wrote: “Nadine Dorries posted and quickly deleted this. Guess she doesn’t want Priti Patel deporting Nadhim Zahawi to Rwanda if she finds out….”
Another said: “Maybe feels a bit mean to retweet the screenshot seeing as she instantly deleted it, but…Nadine Dorries has just congratulated Nadhim Zahawi on the wrong job.”
Dorries often kicks own-goals. In a recent TikTok she talked about downstreaming movies and tennis pitches and has previously, wrongly, claimed Channel 4 was “in receipt of public funds” during a select committee.
"Downstream your movies."
"Tennis pitches."
