New South Wales Police are responding to reports of an active shooter on Bondi Beach, one of the world's most famous beaches.
Local media report that 'multiple shots' have been fired and police cars have streamed into the area.
It's been reported that a Hanukkah event was taking place on Bondi Beach at the time of the shooting.
One local told the Sydney Morning Herald: "I saw at least 10 people on the ground and blood everywhere."
Sky News correspondent Nicole Johnston explained that there is video footage of the incident circulating, saying: "It is graphic and it is shocking. You can see two men, active shooters, firing from a pedestrian bridge right at Bondi Beach.
"There's also video of injured people on the ground. They're receiving medical treatment. There is blood on the ground. So clearly that have been sort of at least a number of injured people there."
Two people are in police custody however the public are still being warned to avoid the area.
