Morrisons in Kent evacuated after fire blazes through roof

The fire broke out from the deep fat fryer in the cafe

A Morrisons store in Kent was evacuated this morning as flames tore through the shop’s roof.

Firefighters were called onto the scene at 7:34am to respond to the incident, which occurred in the Cheriton area of Folkestone.

Kent Fire and Rescue sent 12 fire engines to the scene of the blaze as well as two height vehicles and a command support unit.

People living and working nearby were advised to close windows and doors due to smoke.

The store was evacuated successfully and no casualties have been reported.
