Miliband, Clegg and Farage all resign…

Homenews

On a defining day for UK politics, Ed Miliband, Nick Clegg and Nigel Farage have all resigned as leaders of their respective parties.

The Conservatives are close to forming a new government, with their rivals embarrassed in the polls over the past 24 hours. In arguably the most stirring speech of his reign, Miliband told Labour supporters: "Thank you for the selfies, thank you for the support, and thank you for the most unlikely cult of the 21st century: Milifandom. "The fight goes on. Labour will keep making the case for working people once again." https://twitter.com/singharj/status/596636761083781120 Farage fulfilled his campaign pledge to step down after failing to win the South Thanet seat, but suggested he will run for leadership again in the autumn. https://twitter.com/matthewchampion/status/596622317838585856 Clegg, meanwhile, looked shattered by a punishing night for the Liberal Democrats, and said that "fear and grievance has won". https://twitter.com/Channel4News/status/596625420902113280
