Things are expected to get rough.
The Met Office have issued a warning to pet owners as 80mph winds are set to batter the UK.
Sharing their yellow weather alert, the Met Office said: “If you are on the coast, stay safe during stormy weather by being aware of large waves.
“Even from the shore large breaking waves can sweep you off your feet and out to sea.
“Take care if walking near cliffs; know your route and keep dogs on a lead. In an emergency, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
“Be prepared for weather warnings to change quickly. When a weather warning is issued, the Met Office recommends staying up to date with the weather forecast in your area.”
The Mirror reports that back in 2015, a pensioner and her dog were killed when winds blew them into a road where they struck by a passing car.
During Storm Dudley in 2022, several dogs were killed when strong winds blew down a powerline, striking a kennel.
The Met Office added that Friday’s winds could result in building damage and power cuts with mobile phone coverage also at risk.
They explained: “A deep area of low pressure is expected to pass close to or across the northwest of the UK on Friday and Saturday.
“It will bring a spell of very strong southeasterly to southwesterly winds with gusts reaching 50-60 mph inland and 70-80 mph along coasts (and perhaps higher than this in a few locations). The wind strength will gradually ease through Saturday from the south.”
