Just a month after changing owners, TGI Fridays now has an uncertain future.
The British restaurants of the American chain have about 2,000 staff members in the UK, in 49 restaurants.
But now, the strategic options for TGI Friday are going to be looked at by the Interpath financial firm.
Sugarloaf TGIF Management acquired TGI Fridays in the UK just weeks ago and now it is reported that potential investors about a possible deal are being contacted by Interpath.
According to Phil Broad, president of TGI Fridays International Franchising, “the directors of TGI Fridays UK can confirm they are working closely with independent advisors to explore all available options for securing the long-term future of TGI Fridays in the UK.".
The main goal has been to “protect jobs, support employees and continue to deliver the welcoming, celebratory experience guests expect from TGI Fridays", he told Sky News, adding that “these discussions are progressing constructively”.
Just over a year ago TGI Fridays British chain was sold to investment firms Calveston UK and Breal Capital.
