LeBron James wears 'Make America arrest the cops who killed Breonna Taylor' hat
When Trump fans are abusing you, it's a good sign you're doing the right thing
LeBron James is not afraid to speak up on social issues. Like many NBA players, his opposition to police brutality and institutional racism has been vocal and consistent for many years.
Today was no different, as the Lakers star arrived for his game against the Portland Trail Blazers wearing a red cap, displaying the message "Make America arrest the cops who killed Breonna Taylor."
Breonna Taylor was fatally shot by Louisville Metro Police in March this year at the age of 26 and thus far, one cop involved has been fired while the other two have faced no consequences.
The hat was obviously a riff on the 'Make America Great Again' hates popularised by president Donald Trump. You'll be shocked to hear that Trump's supporters didn't take to LeBron wearing his hat well.
Some of the comments from Trump's supporters included your typically stupid takes of "stick to Basketball" and "You're a puppet for democrats" as well as the more grotesque and overtly offensive stuff. If you're pissing them off, it's a good sign you're doing the right thing.
This is a cause close to LeBron James' heart. In a press conference last month, the basketball superstar said: "We want the cops arrested who committed that crime. As one of the leaders of this league, I want Taylor's family to know and the state of Kentucky to know… we want justice."
