Starmer wants feet on the ground

Keir Starmer has committed to sending UK troops to Ukraine if a peace deal is agreed.

Yesterday, (6 January) France, the United Kingdom and Ukraine signed a “Declaration of Intent” on Tuesday to send their forces to Ukraine if a peace deal is signed with Russia.

This would see the nations set up military hubs in the country.

The thought is that, by putting boots on the ground, there would be enough of a deterrent from future Russian aggression.

Keir Starmer said Ukraine’s armed forces would use the protective facilities to retain Ukraine’s defensive needs.

However, this action may prove harder said than done, with Russia already saying that any peace deal with Ukraine would not permit NATO forces in Ukraine.
