He has spoken out for the first time.

Jermaine Jenas has broken his silence after being sacked by the BBC.

Speaking to The Sun, he stated that he is “ashamed” and has “let everybody down” following his dismissal.

He informed the paper that he sent “inappropriate messages” to two colleagues on the One Show, however that they were “nothing illegal” and that the messages were sent to “two consenting adults”.

Jenas, the former Match of the Day and One Show host had his contract terminated earlier this week for allegedly sending inappropriate messages to a female colleague.

It has been confirmed that the BBC have not disclosed any further details regarding the allegations against him.

Jenas stated to the Sun the texts were a “huge error of judgement” and he is “deeply sorry”.

He continued: “I feel so ashamed. I’ve let everybody down – my colleagues, my friends and most importantly, I’ve let my family down.”

A BBC spokesperson stated: “We can confirm Jermaine Jenas is no longer part of our presenting line-up.”

Jenas also said in the interview he considered what he did “cheating”.

“I was given an incredible opportunity and I know it’s on me that right now I feel I have lost everything.

“I feel like people are judging me and that I am the number one target right now in the country.”
