Home Office to provide another £150,000 towards ongoing search for Madeleine McCann

The Home Office will provide another six months' funding to the ongoing search for Madeleine McCann at a cost of £150,000, it has emerged. Madeleine McCann was just three years old when she went missing in 2007 when she was abducted from her family's holiday apartment inPraia da Luz, Portugal while her parents were absent. Funding for the operation had run dry in September, prompting the Metropolitan Police to apply for more funding, extending the search until March 2019. Thus far, the operation has cost £11.75 million, with bi-annual grants coming from special funding made available to the police force when they face exceptional costs. In 2013, the Met took it upon themselves to begin 'Operation Grange', dissatisfied with the lack of progress that Portuguese police had made on the case. Madeleine's parents, Gerry and Kate McCann have both been voiced their support for the ongoing search ever since Madeleine was abducted, writing a book called 'Madeleine: Our Daughter's Disappearance and the Continuing Search for Her' which was published in 2011.
