His lawyer also said that Mr Dao will probably be suing the airline.

The lawyer for David Dao, the passenger that was dragged from a United Airlines flight in Chicago, has announced that his client will probably sue United Airlines.

Yesterday, a lawyer for Dao filed a petition with the Cook County Circuit Court which demanded that United Airlines and the City of Chicago preserve all surveillance videos, cockpit voice recordings, passenger and crew lists related to the flight, a first step in potential litigation.

In a recent press conference, Dao’s lawyer, Thomas Demetrio, confirmed that his client had suffered “significant” concussion, a broken nose and lost two front teeth during the incident.

“The family of Dr. Dao wants the world to know that they are very appreciative of the outpouring of prayers, concern and support they have received. Currently, they are focused only on Dr. Dao’s medical care and treatment,” his attorneys said in a statement Tuesday.

“Will there be a lawsuit? Yeah, probably,” Mr Demetrio added.

Dr Dao’s daughter also said that what happened to her father “should never have happened to any human being”.

Since the incident occurred, United Airlines said they would refund the ticket costs of all passengers on Sunday’s flight, however, the airline’s chief executive, Oscar Munoz, has reiterated that he will not resign while expressing his “shame and embarrassment” over an incident that he regarded as “truly horrific.”
