Haunting new video of missing X Factor star Levi Davis emerges from day he disappeared

Levis mother described his disappearance as ‘the scariest time’ of her life

A new video has emerged showing missing X Factor star Levi Davis sending a message to his mother on the day he went missing.

In the footage, Davis is on a ferry from Ibiza to Barcelona on October 29 and despite the heavy wind he can be heard saying: “Hi mum… it’s beautiful.”

The 24-year-old arrived in Barcelona at 7pm, having visited a friend in Ibiza for a week.

The former bath winger had been suffering depression and went to Europe to take some time out after a knee injury which sidelined him from the sport.

CCTV captured Davis at the Old Irish Pub on La Rambla. He was seen leaving the bar at 10pm and hasn’t been heard from since.

There have been multiple sightings of the Worthing Raiders player since then, but none have been verified. Two weeks ago his passport was found at the port area in Barcelona as the Spanish police’s investigation continues.

His mother Julie told the BBC that since Davis’ passport was found, no further information has been provided to them from authorities. She described the ordeal as “the scariest time” of her life and “an emotional whirlwind”.

Last month Julie went to Barcelona with his brother Nathan to search for Davis and confirmed that he had left Ibiza with just 40 Euros. He has not used his phone or either of his bank cards in the fortnight after he went missing.

Police told Julie her son’s phone signal was last picked up around Sants, Barcelona’s main train station, late on the evening of October 29.

On the night Davis was last seen he went to the pub at 930pm and saying for 35 minutes. He was seen leaving with a black rucksack on and wearing a white short-sleeved shirt, black trousers and black and white trainers.

He had got a pint of Heineken and saw the Liverpool vs Leeds game on television, according to the barmaid who served him.

Davis was in Barcelona just three hours before he disappeared.

He also sent a video message to his mother of a singer performing at the Irish pub on the evening he disappeared.

He wrote ‘Arrived Mom’ and a prayer emoji.

Suzanne Balfour, Davis’ foster mum, also told Sky News that he had posted a video whilst in Ibiza about a blackmail threat.

He was the first British rugby union player to come out as bisexual in 2020, and Sky News’ Kay Burley asked whether the alleged threat could have related to that.

Balfour said: “He might just be frightened, he did say in that video that his life was in danger, I don’t know whether he’s running from something, I just don’t know.

“Levi said he needed to get out of Ibiza, when his friend asked why he just said he needed to get out… he was actually on a ferry from Ibiza going to Barcelona… but that was the last thing he heard from him.”

Davis was a part of a celebrity version of The X Factor in 2019 alongside fellow rugby players Ben Foden and Thom Evans.

The group formed a band called Try Star on the show. After that, he also appeared on reality show Celebs Go Virtual Dating.
