The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are expecting their second child, a spokesperson has confirmed. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle already have a one-year-old, Archie Mountbatten-Windsor, who was born in May 2019, and will welcome another child to the world later this year.

The spokesperson said: “We can confirm that Archie is going to be a big brother. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are overjoyed to be expecting their second child.”

Meghan revealed last November that she suffered a miscarriage in the summer of 2020, telling the New York Times: “I knew, as I clutched my firstborn child, that I was losing my second.” The new child will be the eighth in line for the throne, after Harry retained his place in the succession line despite dropping his HRH title last year.
