Great news, as Peaky Blinders creator confirms two more seasons of the show

Amazing news for Peaky Blinders fans.

After season 4 came to a close late last year, we have been eagerly awaiting the return of Peaky Blinders. The fifth season is happening, and we’ve started to get details about the filming and casting. It looks like we won’t be getting until 2019 though, as the official Peaky Blinders Twitter account shared this teaser just before Christmas.

That’s all very exciting, but what about the show’s long term future? Well, there’s some good news on that front as well. Series creator Steven Knight has confirmed that there will definitely be one more season, and probably two.

As reported by The Independent, Knight revealed the details in an interview with the Birmingham Press Club:

“We are definitely doing [series] six and we will probably do seven.”

There were little other details offered, but he did say that series star Cillian Murphy and the rest of the main cast would all be involved.

“We’ve talked to Cillian Murphy and he’s all for it, and the rest of the principal cast are in for it.”

It’s hard to imagine Peaky Blinders with Tommy Shelby, to be honest.

Knight also teased a spin-off from the show – but it’s not what you think. He says he’s spoken with a dance company – yes, really – to produce a ballet adaptation of the show. That is not at all what we were expecting to hear, but it could work…. somehow…

“I had a meeting with Ballet Rambert who want to do Peaky Blinders – The Ballet. I’m saying ‘why not?’ I wasn’t supposed to say anything about it, but I don’t mind talking about things.”

Steven Knight was Oscar nominate for his screenplay for Dirty Pretty Things in 2002, and most recently created the Tom Hardy BBC drama Taboo. He also co-created Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, which returns to ITV this weekend with new host Jeremy Clarkson.
