The future of The Grand Tour is in doubt

The beloved motoring show has been one of Amazon Prime’s staple shows since it debuted back in 2016.

However, the future of the series is uncertain after a report from The Sun after news that the show’s

“It’s a surprising decision and everyone realises it very much marks the end of an era for the three presenters,” a source told the outlet.

“The Grand Tour is one of Prime Video’s most watched shows and Jeremy, James and Richard have a devoted following.

“But the guys have made no bones about the fact they’re all advancing in years and they have lots of other projects to pursue.

“They just felt like the time was right and wanted to go out on a high when the show remained popular.”

The Mail Online reports that The Grand Tour may continue, with Prime set to explore other options after the departure of the three presenters.

It follows news that the trio’s original show Top Gear has been pulled for the foreseeable after new presenter Freddie Flintoff’s horrific accident during filming last year.

“We know resting the show will be disappointing news for fans, but it is the right thing to do,” the BBC said in a statement.

“All other Top Gear activity remains unaffected by this hiatus including international formats, digital, magazines and licensing.”

The broadcaster added that they ‘remain committed to Freddie, Chris and Paddy’.

They said they “have been at the heart of the show’s renaissance since 2019, and we’re excited about new projects being developed with each of them.”

The timing of the news has caused huge speculation, with the outlet claiming that fans are convinced Clarkson, May and Hammond will return to their original show.

People have been taking to social media to explain why they think the trio look to be returning to Top Gear.

“Well known they’re coming back to BBC to do Top Gear,” one person wrote.

A second put: “They all be back to Top Gear for sure!!!”

“Wouldn’t be surprised if there back doing Top Gear. The ratings have been s*** since they left,” a third said.
