Major disruption is expected to last until the end of the day

Southern, Thameslink, and Gatwick Express services are all facing major disruption this morning after a train derailed.

National Rail has said major disruption affecting London services is now expected to last until the end of the day.

The train derailed close to Selhurst Depot, leading to it blocking the lines towards Norwood Junction and London Bridge.

Fortunately, no one has been injured.

Additionally, a fault with the signalling system between Norwood Junction and London Blackfriars is also behind today's delays.

A number of Southern and Thameslink services running this morning have been altered due to the ongoing disruption.

The Southern services affected are:

  • Epsom to London Bridge services will be suspended
  • Tattenham Corner/Caterham to London Bridge services will be diverted via an alternative route
  • Uckfield to London Bridge - a reduced service is likely to operate on this route

Thameslink announced the following services are suspended and will not run in both directions until further notice:

  • London Bridge to East Grinstead
  • Brighton to Cambridge
  • Bedford to Three Bridges

Passengers across the three rail operators have also been advised not to travel.

Additionally, disruption on London Overground services between Highbury & Islington and West Croydon is expected until the end of the day, National Rail said.
