The FBI, CIA and the Director of National Intelligence all support claims of Russian intervention in the recent US presidential election.

The FBI has supported claims by the CIA that there was Russian intervention to help Donald Trump claim victory in the recent US presidential election.

According to a report in the Washington Post, CIA Director John Brennan confirmed the support of the FBI and the Director of National Intelligence, James R. Clapper Jr, in a message to the CIA workforce that has been seen by US officials.

“Earlier this week, I met separately with (Director) FBI James Comey and DNI Jim Clapper, and there is strong consensus among us on the scope, nature, and intent of Russian interference in our presidential election,” Brennan wrote in the message.

“The three of us also agree that our organizations, along with others, need to focus on completing the thorough review of this issue that has been directed by President Obama and which is being led by the DNI,” he added.

Having gathered intelligence about Russian intervention in the election from a variety of sources, CIA officials informed senators in Washington earlier this month, specifically telling them, according to the Washington Post, that it was “quite clear” that electing Trump was one of Russia’s goals.

It had been suggested that the FBI didn’t agree with the CIA’s claims of Russian intervention but the fact that all three agencies are united in agreement over the issue dismisses those suggestions.

President-elect Donald Trump has repeatedly rejected claims of Russian intervention in the election.
