Extinction Rebellion says the political system isn’t fit for purpose

Wayne Farry

“Our political parties can’t deal with making major decisions”

Extinction Rebellion took to the streets of London on Monday morning to raise awareness of the crisis facing the planet if we fail to act on the threat of climate change.

The group, which has grown in prominence and influence this year, held protests across the world on Monday.

During peaceful protests in London, activists chained themselves to cars and each other in a bid to bring areas of the city to a standstill.

JOE spoke to a number of protesters in central London, many of whom hit back at claims their action is radical, stating that – given the situation we’re all in – they could be doing far more.

Protesters also criticised Britain’s political system, which they stated is incapable of “making major decisions”.
