The legal battle between Musk and Twitter has escalated.
Elon Musk has countersued Twitter amid a legal battle over the Tesla CEO's attempts to end his $44 billion (€43 billion) bid to buy Twitter, according to reports.
Multiple outlets state that Musk filed a lawsuit on Friday (29 July) and that a confidential 164-page document was submitted.
That said, under the rules of the Chancery Court in the state of Delaware, a redacted version of the filing may soon be made available to the public.
Earlier in July, it was announced that Musk was seeking to end his much-publicised bid to buy Twitter, claiming that the social network company did provide sufficient information regarding the number of fake and spam accounts on the platform.
Twitter later hit back by filing a lawsuit against the Tesla CEO, in which it accused Musk of a "long list" of breaches of the merger agreement and argued that he backed out of the deal as it "no longer serves his personal interests".
On 17 October, a five-day trial regarding Twitter's lawsuit against Musk will begin having been ordered by a judge.
