Eddie Izzard officially changes name on passport to new feminine name

Izzard said she's 'loved the name' since she was a child

The comedienne recently revealed she will now go by Suzy Eddie Izzard after wanting to change her name since she was 10.

Izzard, who uses the pronouns she/her, explained the change to her passport during an appearance on ITV daytime show 'Lorraine'.

But she confirmed she would be keeping the name Eddie as well so that "people can choose" which name to use and therefore "can't make a mistake."

Izzard told host Lorraine Kelly: "When I was 10, I just loved the name. Suzy. It's got Edward John in my passport so I just thought what if I add Suzy in there. When people are not sure what to say, I say I prefer Suzy but I don't mind Eddie."

She went on to explain how no one can make a mistake with her name going forward, adding: "I prefer her but I don't mind being Eddie. No one can make a mistake with me unless they call me Gregory or Sabrina and then that's not quite right."

The gender-fluid comedienne spoke about her new name earlier this month as well.

Izzard told Matt Forde on his Political Party podcast that she would be going by Suzy Eddie Izzard, but that she doesn't mind if people still refer to her using the pronouns he/him.
