Dr. Dre recovering in hospital after suffering brain aneurism
He was admitted to hospital on Monday
Dr. Dre has said he is "doing great" as he recovers in hospital after suffering a brain aneurism.
The rapper and producer was taken to Los Angeles' Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on Monday, according to TMZ.
Dre, real name Andre Romelle Young, attended the centre's intensive care unit for treatment. He has since taken to social media to inform his followers that he is making a good recovery.
"Thanks to my family, friends and fans for their interest and well wishes," he said.
"I’m doing great and getting excellent care from my medical team. I will be out of the hospital and back home soon. Shout out to all the great medical professionals at Cedars. One Love!!"
Friend and fellow rapper LL Cool J also shared an update on Dre on Twitter, saying: "Dre is recovering nicely."
TMZ reports that Dre, aged 55, is currently under the care of his medical team. At the time of writing, the team reportedly did not know what caused the aneurism.
Dre rose to fame in the 1980s as part of the iconic rap group NWA. He later carved a spot for himself as a record label executive in the '90s West Coast hip hop scene, as well as launching his own successful solo career.
Following his admission to hospital, fellow artists Snoop Dogg and Ice Cube wished Dre a speedy recovery.
“Send your love and prayers to the homie Dr Dre," said Ice Cube, while Snoop Dogg wrote on Instagram: “GET WELL DR DRE WE NEED U CUZ.”
