Dramatic dashcam footage captures plane crashing onto a highway in Florida

Thankfully, nobody was injured as a result.

Dashcam footage from two police cars captured a small plane crashing onto a highway in west Florida on Sunday morning. The crash, which occurred half a mile from Clearwater Airpark in Pinellas County, was captured on the dashcams of two deputies from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, who was in the area on an unrelated call. The plane clipped a tree as the 61-year-old pilot, Marc Benedict, tried to make an emergency landing after experiencing engine trouble on the return journey from Zephyrhills Municipal Airport. There were also no citizens injured in the crash, according to the sheriff’s department.
