Daniel Radcliffe has confirmed he is expecting his first child with partner Erin Darke, with the couple due to become parents later this year
They have been together ever since they met on the set of film Kill Your Darlings in 2013.
In the film, Radcliffe played poet Allen Ginsberg, and Darke featured as Gwendolyn, a romantic interest.
Speaking about how he met Darke, he said in 2020: "It’ll be a hell of a story to tell our kids one day, our characters are meeting and flirting with each other, so there is this kind of sweet record of us just meeting for the first time.”
Confirming the news that Radcliffe is expecting his first child, a spokesman close to the actor told the Mirror: “Daniel and Erin could not be happier to be expecting. They are absolutely thrilled, and can’t wait to become a family of three.
“They told their families and friends recently. It’s an incredibly exciting time.”
To millions around the world, Radcliffe is best known as playing Harry Potter since the age of 12, and the news that he is becoming a father is sure to make many of you feel very old indeed.
But it doesn't sound like he wants the same childhood fame for any of his future offspring.
Radcliffe told Newsweek last year: "I want my kids - if and when they exist - I would love them to be around film sets.
“A dream would be for them to come onto a film set and be like: ‘God, you know, I’d love to be in the art department, I’d love to be something in the crew.
“I wouldn’t want fame for my kid. Film sets are wonderful places. A lot of the time it can be wonderful for kids, but it’s really the fame side of it that should be avoided at all costs.”
Radcliff isn't the first child star from Harry Potter become a parent. Rupert Grint, who played Ronald Weasley in the films, has a three-year-old daughter, Wednesday, with actor Georgia Groome.
