Crowdfunding page for heroic homeless man raises more than £11,000

And counting

Not long ago we told about Mark, the homeless man who went out of his way to help a girl who had missed her last late-night train home.

Mark found Nicole Sedgebeer panicking in London Euston station after a night out. She had missed the last service to Milton Keynes, and at 3am was fearing she’d have to wait around on her own until the morning.

Then Mark stepped in. He walked Nicole to an all-night cafe and promised to come back and return her to the central London station in time for her train. When she left the cafe in the morning, Nicole saw her newfound friend running down the street to meet her. He’d even taken a bus to get there.

Nicole posted her story to Facebook and it was shared more than 18,000 times. She was so touched by the effort he’d gone to to ensure her safety that she set up a crowdfunding page to say thanks.

The JustGiving page had a funding target of £8,000, but at the time of writing it has well surpassed that. The current total is £11,170, with more than three weeks left to donate.

Nicole posted about Mark again on her birthday a few days ago, saying the huge donation was the ‘best gift ever’.
