The arrest is understood to have happened in Corsica
Irish MMA star Conor McGregor has been arrested for alleged attempted sexual assault and indecent exposure on the French island of Corsica, according to the AFP news agency.
McGregor had reportedly been in the area for several weeks while training for a 180 kilometre voyage to raise awareness of water safety.
The Dubliner last fought in the UFC in January against Donald Cerrone before retiring for the third time in three years later in the year.
A statement from the prosecutor's office attained by AFP reads: "Following a complaint filed on September 10 denouncing acts that could be described as attempted sexual assault and sexual exhibition, Mr. Conor Anthony McGregor was the subject of a hearing by the police."
No further details of the charges brought against him have been released.
