Britney Spears shares ‘freedom’ insta after dad ‘agrees to step down from conservatorship’

Could Britney Spears finally be regaining control?

TMZ reports that Jamie Spears, father of Britney Spears, has reportedly voluntarily filed papers at the Los Angeles Superior Court to remove himself from the conservatorship.

Not long after the news was announce, Spears posted a video online of herself dancing and hinting at ‘freedom’.

‘You can see the last dance in red top I’m very hesitant when dancing ?? but letting go is freedom!!!!’ she wrote.

‘I’m not sure exactly why I’m being so cautious…it might be my left foot that was broken talking to me ???? !!!!’

“There are, in fact, no actual grounds for suspending or removing Mr. Spears as the Conservator of the Estate,” writes Jamie’s lawyers.

“It is highly debatable whether a change in conservator at this time would be in Ms. Spears’ best interests.

“Nevertheless, even as Mr. Spears is the unremitting target of unjustified attacks, he does not believe that a public battle with his daughter over his continuing service as her conservator would be in her best interests.”

They continued: “‘So, even though he must contest this unjustified Petition for his removal, Mr. Spears intends to work with the Court and his daughter’s new attorney to prepare for an orderly transition to a new conservator.

“Regardless of his formal title, Mr. Spears will always be Ms. Spears’ father, he will always love her unconditionally, and he will always look out for her best interests.’’

Britney’s lawyer, Mathew Rosengart, spoke to TMZ in response to the surprise move: “We are pleased but not necessarily surprised that Mr. Spears and his lawyer finally recognise that he must be removed.

“We are disappointed, however, by their ongoing shameful and reprehensible attacks on Ms. Spears and others.”

He added: ‘We look forward to continuing our vigorous investigation into the conduct of Mr. Spears, and others, over the past 13 years, while he reaped millions of dollars from his daughter’s estate, and I look forward to taking Mr. Spears’s sworn deposition in the near future.

When Britney began behaving erratically in 2008, she willingly to an evaluation at a psychiatric hospital. Then, in the same year, the conservatorship was implemented. The #freebritney movement arguably began in 2009, after dedicated fans grew concerned for her wellbeing and control over her own life.

Sadly, it wasn’t until 2019 that the conservatorship became big news again. In July of 2020, Britney’s brother Bryan spoke out over his concerns surrounding the conservatorship. By September, Britney’s lawyers were involved and the family was reportedly “at war”.

In July of this year, Britney appeared in court to testify, which was streamed online:

“They’ve done a good job at exploiting my life. So I feel like it should be an open court hearing and they should listen to what I have to say,” said the pop icon.

“A lot has happened since two years ago, the last time I was in court. I don’t think I was heard on any level when I came to court last time.

“After I’ve told the whole world I’m okay, it’s a lie. I’m not happy and I can’t sleep. I’m depressed. I cry everyday … It’s my wish and dream for all of this to end. I want my life back.”

She continued: “I’ve been in denial. I’ve been in shock. I am traumatised. I want to end the conservatorship without having to be evaluated. I truly believe this conservatorship is abusive.”
