Another man has been seriously injured
A British man has died and another is seriously injured after an “incident” on a oil rig in Qatar.
It is believed the men worked for a Scottish company working with remotely operated vehicles.
Colleagues said the worker was found dead in his room, while the other is now fighting for his life in hospital.
The man’s family have been told about his death.
Police were flown by helicopter to the rig, and have locked it down while they carry out their investigations.
The full details of what happened are still unclear.
One worker told The Sun: “Everyone in the industry is talking about this.
“I can’t get my head round it. I’ve never heard of anything like it in my life.
“When someone goes to work they’re supposed to come home. This is horrific.”
A Foreign Office spokesman said: “We are supporting the family of a British man who has died and a man who has been injured in Qatar and are in contact with the local authorities.”
