BBC Planet Earth cameraman finds a komodo just chilling in his bathroom

More like 'commode-o dragon'.

Tom Victor

This isn’t scary at all. Nope, not one bit.

Planet Earth 2 was on our screens on Sunday night, complete with penguins, snakes and crazy ants.

It’s fair to say there’s a lot of pretty remarkable stuff uncovered on the nature show, and it’s always an immensely captivating watch.

But one of the show’s cameramen got a little more than he bargained for this week.

Mark MacEwen had been out filming all day and probably could have done with a bit of a break from nature when he got back to his room.

Instead, what he got was the exact opposite: a komodo dragon (and a pretty big one at that) hanging out in his bathroom.

We’re not sure how it got there, or what it wanted, but it seemed content just to chill out on the floor.

“It’s not what you expect to see when you go to the bathroom,” MacEwen says, and that’s probably a fair assessment of the situation.

Eventually they manage to usher the reptile out, though it’s a tougher task than you might think.

When you’ve been working in nature photography, there are probably few things that surprise you. This might well be up there, though.
