Barack Obama says Donald Trump is “unfit to serve as President”

The President didn't hold back.

Barack Obama has launched a scathing attack on Republican nominee Donald Trump, calling him “woefully unprepared” to succeed him as President of the United States.

Trump and Hilary Clinton have officially been confirmed as the Republican and Democratic nominees for the Presidency of the United States and the current President left Americans in no doubt as to his feelings on the former.

Obama made the comments in a joint press conference with Singapore’s visiting Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, saying that Trump was “unfit to serve as President”.

Obama also called into question Trump’s views on Europe, the Middle East and Asia, and the “denunciation of his statements” by leading Republicans such as John McCain.

“What does this say about your party that this is your standard bearer?, Obama said.

This isn’t a situation where you have an episodic gaffe, this is daily and weekly where they are distancing themselves from statements he’s making,” he added.

There has to be a point in which you say this is not somebody I can support for president of the United States.”

The comments heap pressure onto an already beleaguered Trump, who is currently courting controversy following his decision to not back respected Republicans officials Paul D. Ryan and John McCain in their primary campaigns.
