Supermarket giants Asda and Aldi have recalled rum produced by Glen Turner amid fears that some bottles could contain glass.

According to The Telegraph, the drinks in question are Aldi’s Old Hopking brand, and Asda’s own-label Carta Blanca Superior White Rum, Refined Dark Navy Rum, and Liberty Ship Superior Dark Rum and Superior White Rum.

A spokesperson for Glen Turner said that there is “a very small chance” that fragments of glass could have gotten into some of the product. Describing the recall as a “precautionary measure”, the spokesperson explained that the situation arose due to a “manufacturing defect” at the Glen Turner plant.

The Birmingham Mail reports that the British Food Standards Agency asked that white and dark Glen Turner rum, sold in both Asda and Aldi, be returned immediately.
