The fight was set to take place in just a week’s time
Anthony Joshua’s upcoming fight with Dillian Whyte has been called off after a random anti-doping test on Whyte returned “adverse findings.”
Joshua and Whyte had been due to face-off next Saturday, August 12, but the bout has now been cancelled.
Matchroom said in a statement: “Today, the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA) informed Matchroom, the Association of Boxing Commissions and the British Boxing Board of Control that Dillian Whyte had returned adverse analytical findings as part of a random anti-doping protocol.
“In light of this news, the fight has been cancelled, and a full investigation will be conducted.”
At this point, it is not clear whether Joshua will still fight and a replacement found for the fight.
Whilst the main event of Joshua vs Whyte has been cancelled, the rest of the card is still set to proceed as planned.
