We can’t recommend donating enough.

The mourning of Joao Carvalho is still in its earliest stages after the tragic passing of the Portuguese welterweight following his TKO defeat in the National Stadium this past weekend.

Carvalho lost via TKO in the third round against Charlie Ward at Total Extreme Fighting and sadly passed away on Monday night at Dublin’s Beaumont Hospital.

In the wake of the dreadful news, a crowdfunding page has been set up in an attempt to raise funds for the family of Carvalho.

Page creator Declan Larkin has set a target of £5,000 and we’d urge you to donate if you have the money to spare.

“We have all woke this morning to the absolutely devastating news of the passing of MMA star Joao Carvalho,” Larkin writes.

“This is a very dark day for his family team and the sport! Through this page we would like to raise money to help his loved ones and team bring Joao home! The Irish MMA community is deeply saddened and I know we can all come together in this devastating time to help in any way possible!”
