Fans were shredding him on TikTok
Rapper Lil Pump was left bewildered after no one recognised him on a busy Japanese street; with some fans joking he paid people to take pictures with him.
Lil Pump, real name Gazzy García, has risen to fame in recent years through his work on Soundcloud, releasing songs like Gucci Gang, Casanova and Esskeetit. But it seems like Japanese locals had no idea who he was, leading to some pretty awkward video footage.
The clip was posted to TikTok by @firesnippet, who wrote: “Why no one knew.”
In the on-screen text, they also questioned: “Why no one knew Lil Pump on the streets of Japan.”

The video has since received upwards of 200k likes and thousands of comments, many of which savage Lil Pump.
“They probably thought it was Jack sparrow,” wrote one user, while another added, “so basically the same as the US.”
“I don’t think anyone knows him in the US anymore either lmao,” another said.
A fourth added: “I love it when famous people don’t get recognised and you can clearly see it hurts their ego.”
Earlier this month, the Florida-born rapper, 22, revealed that his Powerpuff Girls tattoo is dedicated to his daily threesomes.
“I got that Powerpuff Girls tattoo around when I dropped Harverd Dropout,” he told Inked Magazine. “For that whole month, I was having threesomes, like, every single day. So that was the reason I got the Powerpuff Girls on my neck. It was an amazing month.”
