Paul Weller releases new song “Movin On” ahead of upcoming new album

Paul Weller’s back with a new song

Yup, you read that right. The man responsible for some of the best in British music returns with “Movin On”, a lush, string-laden number that showcases the former Jam star’s vocals at their very best.

Set to land on True Meanings, his eagerly anticipated upcoming new album, the new song is apparently the result of a “scratchy demo” on Paul’s phone that was sent to Tom Doyle of the White Label project, who co-wrote the track with Paul and fellow White Label cohort Anth Brown.

“I’m never, ever too proud to give a song over to someone else, to see what they might be able to bring to it,” said Paul Weller. “That’s what it’s about really, I always want to see what people can add to my ideas. The older you get, and the more stuff you’ve done, the more important that is.”

According to a press release, True Meanings is: “An album characterised by grandiose-yet-delicate, lush orchestration: an aesthetic to which Paul’s better-than-ever voice, singing some of his most nakedly honest words, is perfectly suited. A dreamy, peaceful, pastoral set of songs to get lost in, it is both an album that a lot of his faithful audience have been wanting him to make for a long time, and an album that many new people outside of that audience will relate to.”

True Meanings, the 14th Paul Weller solo album, the 26th studio album of his entire career, will arrive September 14th (pre-order it here).
