Liam Gallagher got ID’d buying cigarettes and it didn’t take long for someone to get a cracking joke in

Liam wasn't best pleased

“If you are lucky enough to look under 25 you will be asked to prove that you are aged 18 or over.”

That’s the rule that shops have to follow when selling alcohol, cigarettes and other age-restricted products. We should take it as a compliment, but it’s one thing to be 28 and look under 25, and another to be 44.

Singer and philosopher Liam Gallager got caught out by this, according to a tweet the former Oasis man sent, in which he complained about not being able to buy cigarettes without ID.

You’d think that Liam Gallagher would be sufficiently famous for people to do a quick bit of mental arithmetic and figure out that he is probably over 25, but either way, Liam wasn’t getting no cigarettes from that particular establishment.

As you can see, the tweet caught a fair bit of attention, with nearly 1,500 replies and 15,000 retweets. But one interaction in particular stood out, being that it was a rather good (but also rather bad) joke.

So what advice can you give to a man scorned? A man denied cigarettes? A man with a hefty back catalogue of classics from which you could construct a semi-decent joke?

There it is. Lovely.
