Everyone’s favourite guilty pleasure, Busted announce new album and tour

Will Lavin

The band’s new album will arrive next year

Busted have today announced that they’ll be releasing new album Half Way There next year on February 8th.

The band we all pretend to not like but secretly sing to in the shower when no one is listening (and hopefully watching, because that would be creepy) will be returning to their hyperactive pop-punk sound for the first time since 2003’s A Present For Everyone.

Going in with the aim to make the “ultimate Busted album,” James Bourne, Charlie Simpson and Matt Willis have spent the the last year working no the album, writing much of it in James’ apartment in North London, the same apartment they spent so much time together when they first started the band.

“If I was a Busted fan, I’d listen to this record and feel like I got my band back,” says James of the album, which saw Busted get the opportunity to work with producer Gil Norton (Foo Fighters, Pixies).

Matt added: “I cannot wait for fans to hear this record and to be able to talk to them on social media about it. I just have a feeling that they’re going to love it.”

According to the press release, Half Way There – a title that plays on the band’s huge hit “Year 3000” – is:

“A rush of melody and effervescent riffs that see the band blend huge arena-filling choruses with the classic pop-punk sound of Blink 182 and New Found Glory. Lyrically it’s often reflective and nostalgic (‘Reunion’, ‘All My Friends’ and a mini Busted autobiography in the shape of ‘It Happens’), but there are some fantastical flights of fancy too in the shape of ‘Shipwrecked In Atlantis’ and a tribute to Elon Musk in ‘Race To Mars’.

Aside from the new album, Busted have also confirmed the details of a major UK arena tour scheduled for March 2019.

The dates are as follows:

March 23rd – Glasgow, The SSE Hydro

March 26th – Cardiff, Motorpoint Arena

March 28th – Manchester, Arena

March 29th – Birmingham, Resorts World Arena

March 30th – London, The SSE Arena Wembley
