The Joe Rogan Experience was the most popular podcast, surprising absolutely no one

Spotify has revealed its annual list for the most streamed artists and songs on the service.

The most-streamed artist of 2020 was rapper Bad Bunny, with more than 8.3 billion plays.

The Puerto Rican artist, real name Benito Ocasio, also had the most-streamed album of the year with YHLQMDLG. His new album El Ultimo Tour Del Mundo was released last week, and lead single ‘Dakiti’ featuring Jhay Cortez is currently the world’s most-streamed track.

Following Bad Bunny on the list of the most-streamed artist were Drake, J Balvin, Juice WRLD and the Weeknd.

All of the most-streamed artists were male. Billie Eilish was the most-streamed female artist, with Taylor Swift second and Ariana Grande third. Dua Lipa and Halsey rounded out the rest of the top five.

The Weeknd had the most-streamed song of the year with ‘Blinding Lights.’

‘Dance Monkey’ by Tones And  Roddy Rich‘s ‘The Box’ were the second and third most-streamed tracks respectively. ‘Roses – Imanbek Remix’ by Imanbek and SAINt JHN came in fourth, with Dua Lipa’s ‘Don’t Start Now’ in fifth place.

The Weeknd’s 2020 album After Hours was also the second most-streamed album of the year. It will offer some satisfaction for the singer after After Hours was controversially snubbed at last week’s Grammy nominations.

Post Malone’s Hollywood’s Bleeding, Harry Styles’ Fine Line and Dua Lipa’s Future Nostalgia made up the rest of the top five most popular albums.

The Joe Rogan Experience was the most listened-to podcast of the year on Spotify. In May 2020 Rogan signed a lucrative exclusive deal with Spotify to make his show exclusive to the platform, with full episodes no longer being uploaded to YouTube from December.

TED Talks Daily, The Daily, The Michelle Obama Podcast and Call Her Daddy rounded out the rest of the top five podcasts.
