After leaving the BBC DJ Semtex now announces move to rival station

DJ Semtex has today announced that after quitting the BBC last month he's joining rival radio station Capital Xtra. While most thought that the DJ, who also wrote the book Hip Hop Raised Me, had left BBC 1Xtra solely to pursue his Who We Be TALKS_ podcast series with Spotify, Semtex in a post on Instagram this morning said: "I heard rumours that I left radio. Are you mad? I could never leave radio," before announcing a new slot on Capital Xtra. He even took a dig at the BBC and his old show slot by proclaiming that Capital Xtra is the "home of Hip Hop." Set to start on Friday, DJ Semtex's new Hip Hop show on Capital Xtra will take place every Friday night from 9pm - 11pm. His Instagram post read:

"It is an honour to be on Capital Xtra alongside legends, and some of the hottest emerging DJs. Every Friday night from 9 to 11pm I will be relentlessly shutting down the airwaves, and bringing you the greatest world class Hip Hop show of LIFE!!! I want to thank every day one, every real one, every Stan, every fan of Hip Hop that loves this culture as much as I do, and I hope you continue to ride with me for the next chapter starting from 9pm tonight. All I’ve ever wanted to do was DJ, work with great artists, and document the culture the right way. It is a blessing to be working with people that share the vision."
