The video was posted just six days before her accident

A Florida TikTok star who posted a video claiming that she had never been involved in a car accident has been killed days after uploading the video.

Kara Santorelli, 18, was driving when she was hit in a head-on collision with another vehicle on March 17 in Escambia County, Florida.

Santorelli, who had more than 40,000 followers on the social media app, posted the video to her TikTok six days before her death, which has since been seen over 15m times.

In the video, the 18-year-old can be seen driving behind the wheel and looking out onto the road with the caption that said: "When they try to call me a bad driver but I've never hit a person or an actual car."

Tributes have since poured in on the comments section of the video and across other platforms of social media.

Her aunt said that she was "heartbroken" in an obituary post on Facebook while her mother added: "I love you Kara. God blessed me with you."

Florida Highway Patrol have reported that Santorelli was driving down the wrong side of the road before hitting the car. Both drivers involved in the collision died at the scene.

The tragic death came just months before the 18-year-old was due to graduate and her school, Northview High School, released an emotional statement in memory to their student.

"We hold tight to beautiful memories that she had left with us. Her beautiful smile and kind spirit will continue to be in the hearts of her friends and classmates," said a representative for the school.
