Why is it that everything looks so much better in slow-motion?

A golf ball being smashed against a steel plate; a water balloon bursting with a man inside it; and now this... Adam Savage, host of Mythbusters on The Discovery Channel, recorded a pistol being fired at a super-slow speed of 73,000 frames a second. In a video you'll probably want to watch more than once, mushroom clouds can be seen before and after the bullet exits the pistol.
