But as his trip continued, Robert's facial expressions began to tell a story of a man that was very much missing his friends.
Thanks @notjake_fromstatefarm for not coming to your bachelor party. Now I can pick any horse that I want. #navypier #chicagoforone A photo posted by Robert Chernow (@rwchernow) on
His experience was now so sad that even the people that were initially taking pity on him were beginning to give him a wide berth.
Lonely, he reached out for help...This is Michelle. Her and her family sat next to me on the boat (the seats that my friends would've been occupying had they made it here). She showed genuine remorse for my situation - So much so that she gave me a mini bottle of Cabernet before telling her kids "let's go sit somewhere else and let the sad man be alone". Thanks, Michelle! #chicagoforone A photo posted by Robert Chernow (@rwchernow) on

But his experiments on Tinder appeared to be bearing fruit...Apparently everyone in my section also tried to take Delta to get here. #bears #chicagoforone A photo posted by Robert Chernow (@rwchernow) on
But he was still looking blue. Literally.
He even managed to be the only person at some of Chicago's normally busy spots. This is Ray. He was the captain of my water taxi. After hearing my story he insisted I wear a life vest to ensure my safety. Accordingly to him "you must live in order to keep the bachelor party dream alive". Thanks, Ray! Sidenote - as apropos as it is that I'm literally blue in this picture, that was a random coincidence, not an added filter meant to illustrate my current mood. #chicagoforone A photo posted by Robert Chernow (@rwchernow) on
Even the weather was against him, as the fog spoiled his view from the top of the John Hancock tower.
Next came a trip to a park....Chad was right. #chicagoforone A photo posted by Robert Chernow (@rwchernow) on
...but thankfully, the story has a happy ending. Jake, the stag himself, finally arrives.
