There’s a simple way to get rid of the latest Facebook hoax posts

By now you've probably all seen the latest Facebook hoax that's doing the rounds.
It's a variation on a few that you'll have seen before - you're asked to copy and paste a post to stop Facebook from doing a bad thing, and of course it's all a load of nonsense. But even if it's meaningless, it can still get a bit irritating when you see dozens of friends sharing the same thing and clogging up your newsfeed. Thankfully, Slate journalist Will Oremus has found a way to stop it. You'll recognise this, of course.
First of all, click the arrow on the right-hand side and you'll see the following options.
You can stop following the friend in question, but if you don't want to miss those wonderful cat gifs in between the weekly Facebook scares, it might be easier to just hide the post.
Of course, if you really want to make sure you avoid this sort of thing in future, you can always report the post, and some users will have the option of specifically reporting something as a 'false news story'.
