Teenager rejected from waitressing interview with laughing face emoji

Getting knocked back in a job interview is something that happens to most of us at some point in our lives.

It's something that 18-year-old Megan Dixon experienced only recently when she was interviewed for a waitressing job at a new branch of Miller and Carter in Leicester. Megan told the Mirror that she was informed by the restaurant's assistant manager, Shantell Wesson, that she would learn if she had been successful via email within days of her interview. However, Megan didn't have to wait quite so long. Only minutes after leaving her interview at the restaurant, she received a text which simply read 'It's a no x'. Understandably, Megan was keen to understand the reasons for the surprisingly short rejection. Having replied asking why this was, she received a second text. 'Just not engaging,' it read. 'And answers were 'like' basic.' The text was followed by a laughing face emoji - not exactly the most professional way of letting someone know they've not got the job.   [caption id="attachment_112096" align="alignnone" width="1516"] Photo: @megrdixon[/caption] "I was shocked," Megan is quoted as saying in the Mirror. "The least she should have given me was some proper feedback. "It was a really bitchy thing to do." A Miller and Carter spokesperson later confirmed that the matter was being investigated and that the texts Megan received were meant for another member of staff. "It was never our intention to be disrespectful or upset her in any way.
