Are you one of those who doesn't mind staying a bit late at the office every now and then? After reading this, you might well think again.

A new study by the TUC has shown that more than 5 million people worked an average of 7.7 extra hours a week without a pay - worth a staggering £6,000 each. What's more, this adds up to a total of a whopping £31.5 billion of unpaid overtime. Teachers are the most likely to work over their paid hours, averaging 11.9 hours extra work on a weekly basis. Close behind are financial institution managers (11.2 hours) and production managers (10.3 hours). According to The Daily Mirror, the TUC responded to this by branding last Friday 'Work Your Proper Hours Day', and attempted to encourage workers to leave work on time. If ever there was a reason to leave the office early, this is it.
