Late Queen would send her footman to go and pick up favourite £10 takeaway

Therefore, people love to be amazed when we discover that the royal family are just humans too who also enjoy fried food and MSG from time to time, and that was never truer of our former regent, Queen Elizabeth II.

Despite dining on the greatest cuisine the world had to offer for much of her life, it was a £10 takeaway that really stole her heart.

So was it a succulent Chinese meal or a spicy Indian that took the crown for best royal-approved takeaway?

Well in fact, it was neither, but instead the classic chippy tea that would see the Queen send her footman out to go and pick her up the £10 meal of fish and chips.

An insider previously confirmed to Fabulous: "She very occasionally treated herself to fish and chips when at Balmoral. A footman is dispatched to get it from the local town of Ballater."

The late monarch was not the only one to enjoy a kebab as per Hello! magazine, although it was unlikely to be after a heavy night out on the town like most.

Royal correspondent Jayne Seymour revealed that one kebab shop in Swaffham, Krazy Kebabs takeaway, once received a delivery order by telephone to Sandringham House.

The delivery driver told Jayne: "I assumed the food was for a servant. But when I got to the entrance a butler took it and said it was for the Queen. I hope she enjoyed it, we are known for the best kebabs in Norfolk."

It turns out to that the taste for takeaway is something that runs in the family with Prince William said to be a fan of the chain-restaurant Nando's.

The heir to the throne explained in the BBC documentary, Football, Prince William and Our Mental Health in 2020 that "everyone loves a Nando's."

Although admitting it's been a while since he had been, William went on to explain that "In fact, the policeman who's on with me again [today], he's the one who gets me the Nando's the whole time. It's his fault."

Meanwhile Princess Kate is more of a curry fan, expressing her preference while talking to Radio 1, although it seems Kormas haven not reached Windsor Palace yet as she explained William wouldn't eat it with her as he's not great with spicy food.

The royal couple added: "It doesn't usually get ordered to the palace, we tend to go and pick it up," although jokingly stressed, "not ourselves!"

In an unsurprising revelation, Queen Camilla said her favourite takeaway was the same as the late Elizabeth II, a chippy tea.

"Freshly cooked fish and chips, wrapped in paper," she revealed in an interview for YOU Magazine.

"That smell. You cannot beat proper fish and chips."

And of course the menu would not be complete without the favourite takeaway of our current regent, King Charles III.

Charlie is said to be a fan of Pizza as per Chef Erminio Di Meo who, in 2019, presented Charles with a Margarita Pizza from a crowd of the public in St Boswells, Scotland.

The chef said: "I wanted to give him the pizza as he is such a big part of this country. He was curious, he smiled and I said 'it's a margherita'. I believe the Prince said 'it's my favourite'."

Well there you have it, fish and chips, Nando's, curry and pizza all appear to be firm favourites of our royal family.

Maybe they aren't so different after all...
